How many times have you felt frustrated that you haven’t achieved your goals yet? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Many people set goals that are totally achievable only to come up short. There are reasons for this and I’m going to share that with you.
Lacking a plan
Many people have an idea of what they want, but not many take the time to write it down and then make a plan. You need to know specifically what you want to achieve and write that down. Then you need to come up with a game plan to reach that goal. Break it down into steps and write the steps down so you’re clear on what you have to do.
Once you’re clear on your specific goal and you have a plan, you have to focus. Losing focus will guarantee failure. To reach any goal you need to consistently work towards it every day.
Lacking a strong ‘why’
It’s fine to have a goal, but if you don’t have a strong why attached to it you’re going to give up when things get tough. You need a very strong why that resonates so deeply with you that giving up is not an option. Your why needs to be very personal with you and you need to be able to tie yourself emotionally to it.
Fear of failure
You have to believe in yourself and that no matter what, you’re going to reach your goal. So many people decide to not even try because they think they’ll fail and their fear of failure paralyzes them. Guess what? By deciding you’re too scared of failure to even try, you’ve just failed. Think about that – you’ve failed without even having tried. Don’t fear failure! You need failure so you can learn what not to do. All you have to do is decide to go for your goal no matter what. If you accept some failure along the way you’ll end up successful. You only fail when you quit.
Not knowing how to get to where you want to be
No one should expect to know everything they need to know to achieve their goals. That’s what the experts are for. If it’s a health and fitness goal invest in help from a coach so you’re guaranteed to be put on the right path. If it’s a business goal, hire a business coach. There are experts out there that can help you achieve whatever goal it is you have.
Not enough money
So many people believe that they can’t achieve their goals because they don’t have the money. Think of things you do spend your money on and why you spend that money. You spend it because the thing you’re spending it on is important enough to you that you find the money for it. If something is important enough to you, you’ll figure out how to be able to afford it.
Lack of support
I truly believe that the number one reason why people fail to reach their goals is a lack of support. There is strength in numbers! Even if the people around you aren’t supportive you can find support by seeking out a group of like-minded people. This could be people at the gym, or an online support group, or a convention that you attend regularly. There are many forms of support out there and isn’t it worth it to seek them out so you can achieve your goals?
